Dragon Mother

Glittering gold upon the wall

And gleaming jewels upon the stair

Slick silver beyond recall

All convene to make this lair

Furrows upon the stone floor

Forged by talons old and new

A testament to a thousand generations more

From all those they never slew

A long twitching tail curled protectively

And great copper-scaled form

A yellow serpent’s eye stares menacingly

Hidden from sight the fangs of lore

All brought to bear

To guard the most precious treasure

From all those that would dare

A singe egg precious beyond measure

I spent the majority of my day creating dragons, so I thought I would honor these most magnificent creatures with a poem.
