The Chasm

A chasm of darkness

Yawning deep and wide

With caves and crevices

All along its walls

Shadows flick and flitter

All around

And red eyes glare and disappear

Laughter and shrieks

By turns are heard

Disembodied and empty

In the deep cracks

Vicious and wicked

They watch and wait

Biding their time

Waiting, waiting

For just one stumble

A single moment of weakness

A maze of treachery

And deceit

Tread carefully

All who trespass here
